Romanian judoka Vlăduţ Simionescu (left in the photo) won the bronze medal in the +100 kg category, on Sunday, at the Grand Slam tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Simionescu defeated Danile Allerstorfer (Austria) in the last sixteen round, but lost against Anton Krivobokov (Russia) in the quarter-finals. In the requalifications, Simionescu defeated Rustam Kotoiev (Azerbaijan) and then won the match for the bronze medal against Aleksanrd Vahoviak (Belarus).
In the competition in Baku competed 431 judoka from 56 countries, 256 in the men’s competitions and 175 in the women’s competition. Romania participated with 10 judoka, 7 men and 3 women.
