Madrid Open: Irina-Camelia Begu through to the quarter-finals
Romanian tennis player Irina-Camelia Begu has qualified to the Madrid Open quarter-finals on Wednesday, after defeating Czech player Barbora Strycova in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. The match lasted one hour and 40 minutes.
Begu, 37th WTA, will get 215 WTA points and a cheque for EUR 100,315 in one of the best performances achieved by the 24-year old tennis player so far.
In the next round Begu will face Czech player Petra Kvitova, 4th WTA, who has defeated 6-1, 6-4, also on Wednesday, Anastasia Pavliucenkova (Russia), 41st WTA.
