Men’s handball, EURO 2020 qualifiers: Romania defeats Lithuania 28-23

The men’s handball national team of Romania defeated Lithuania 28-23 (16-13) Thursday evening, in Targoviste, in a match counting for Group 6 of the qualifiers for European Championship EURO 2020.

It was Romania’s first victory in the group, after defeats against France and Portugal.

Scorers for Romania: Demis Grigoraş 8 goals, Gabriel Bujor 6, Alexandru Şimicu 4, Adrian Rotaru 3, Marius Szoke 2, Nicuşor Negru 2, Călin Căbuţ 1, Viorel Fotache 1, Ionuţ Iancu (goalkeeper) 1.

Scorers for Lithuania: Mindaugas Dumcius 3 goals, Povilas Babarskas 3, Jonas Truchanovicius 3, Mindaugas Tracijonas 2, Laurynas Palevicius 2, Mindaugas Urbonas 2, Zanas Gabrielius Virbauskas 2, Aidenas Malasinskas 2, Skirmantas Pleta 1, Vaidotas Grosas 1, Valdas Drabavicius 1, Tadas Stankevicius 1.

In Group 6 standings, France and Portugal lead with 4 points, followed by Romania 2 points and Lithuania 0.

The return match Lithuania vs. Romania will take place on Sunday.
