Miami Open: Halep/Georges through to last sixteen round in the doubles, Niculescu defeated by Wozniacki

The pair made up by Romanian tennis player Simona Halep and German Julia Georges has qualified on Saturday to the last sixteen round in the Miami Open doubles event, after defeating Timea Babos/Kristina Mladenovici 4-6, 6-1, 10-6, in one hour and 14 minutes.

The winning pair will face the pair made up by Monica Niculescu (Romania) and Abigail Spears (US) in the next round.

The Romanian pair Irina Begu/Mihaela Buzarnescu was defeated on Saturday by Hao-Ching Chan/Latisha Chan (Taiwan) 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.

In the singles, Monica Niculescu was defeated by Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 7-6 (4)

In the last singles match of the day, Canadian tennis player of Romanian origin, Bianca Andreescu defeated Angelique Kerber 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. It was the second win against Kerber in less than a week, as Andreescu defeated the German tennis player in the Indian Wells final.
