Rio Olympics: Romanian athletes results on day 4. Mergea/Tecau through to semi-finals

- Tennis – Romanian pair Florin Mergea/Horia Tecau, 5th seeded, has qualified to the semi-finals of the doubles event after defeating Bruno Soares/Marcelo Melo (Brazil) 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. The two will face the pair Jack Sock/Steve Johnson (US) on Wednesday. The women’s pair Andreea Mitu/Raluca Olaru was eliminated in the last sixteen round. In the mixed doubles event, the pair Irina Begu/Horia Tecau is to face on Wednesday Agnieszka Radwanska/Lukasz Kubot (Poland), while Monica Niculescu/Florin Mergea will play against Carla Suarez Navarro/David Ferrer (Spain).
- Rowing – Ionela Lehaci/Geanina Beleaga have qualified to the semi-finals of the lightweight double sculls competition. Laura Oprea and Madalina Beres have qualified to the semi-finals of the double sculls event. All the other Romanian athletes failed to qualify.
- Swimming – Marius Radu failed to qualify further in the 100m freestyle competition.
