Romania ranks 17th at European Games 2015 with 12 medals

Romania has gained 12 medals, three gold medals, five silver medals and four bronze medals, in the first edition of the European Games that ended on Sunday in Baku, which brought it the 17th position out of 42.

The gold medals went to Ana-Maria Branza in the individual epee event, Andreea Chitu in the 52 kg. category of the judo event, and the women’s epee team (Ana-Maria Branza, Simona Gherman, Simona Pop, Amalia Tataran), the silver medals were gained by gymnast Andreea Iridon in the balance beam event of the gymnastics competition, Roxana Borha and Elena Meroniac in the double scull — 500 m rowing event, the Romanian women’s aerobic gymnastics team in the group event (Lavinia Panaete, Bianca Gorgovan, Dacian Barna, Gabriel Bocser and Lucian Savulescu), Tiberiu Dolniceanu in the sabre event and the men’s sabre team (Tiberiu Dolniceanu, Alin Badea, Iulian Teodosiu, Madalin Bucur), while bronze medals were won by gymnast Andreea Iridon in the parallel bars event of the gymnastics competition, by gymnast Marius Berbecar in the parallel bars event, Daniela Hondiu in the 60 kg category of the sambo event, and Simona Gherman in the epee event.
