Romania to host WTA Bucharest Open for the next four years

The Romanian Tennis Federation (FRT) has bought the license to host the biggest tennis tour in Romania for yet another four years. So, BRD Bucharest Open will be present on the Romanian tennis courts at least until 2018. “It is a tremendous chance both for the Romanian tennis, our players and this sport’s fans who will get the opportunity to see as many top tennis female players on the Romanian arenas, as we want to improve this competition each year (…)”, FRT chief George Cosac said.

First edition of BRD Bucharest Open was held during July 7-14 this year at Arenele BNR in the Capital. Simona Halep won the tournament’s single competition and Alexandra Cadantu/Elena Bogdan the double one. The international tour comprises total USD 250,000 prizes and 280 ranking points for the winner.
