Romania has won the race against the Czech Republic for hosting the table tennis European Championship for juniors in 2018; the competition will be held in Cluj-Napoca, the city that will also host next year the European Championship for Gymnastics and the European Championship for men’s basketball.
“The joy is even greater as the last European Championship for juniors and cadets was held in Romania in 1959, in Constanta. Moreover, in 2018 we celebrate the centenary of the Great Union. Finally, 2018 is the last year as juniors for our champions: Andreea Dragoman, Rareş Şipoş and Cristi Pletea, thus giving them the opportunity to take the step to seniors at home, in front of their fans,” Romanian Table Tennis Federation (FRTM) manager Beatrice Romanescu said.
During October 18-23 the Romanian delegation is in Budapest, where the European Championships for singles seniors is played. In this context, the meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Federation took place on Tuesday in order to designate the winner to host the European Championships for Juniors and Cadets in 2018.
