Romania wins 3 medals at the Paraclimbing World Cup in Italy

The Romanian National Paraclimbing Team achieved an outstanding performance at the Paraclimbing World Cup held in Arco, Italy, from September 25-29. Our team secured a total of 3 medals, two gold and a silver one.

Romania was represented by nine talented team members, each demonstrating courage, discipline, and the drive to surpass themselves: • Răzvan Nedu – B2 category – 1st place, gold medal • Cosmin Candoi – B3 category – 1st place, gold medal • Liviu Matei – AU3 category – 2nd place, silver medal • Daniel Andrei – B3 category – 4th place • Ștefan Dogaru – RP3 category – 11th place • Florin Herciu – AL2 category – 16th place • Maria Herciu – RP1 category – 10th place • Adriana Tofan – B1 category – 4th place • Andrei Petraru – RP1 category – 13th place.

The Romanian athletes have been coordinated by: Claudiu Miu – Coach Coordinator • Antoaneta Barbu – Lot Manager • Iulian Farkaș – Navigator/Instructor • Radu Ionescu – Coach • Delia Liscan – Navigator/Coach • Florin Mirea – Navigator/Instructor.

Category B1 athletes are completely blind, Category B2 athletes have a visual acuity of up to 2/60 and/or a visual field of less than 5%. B3 category athletes have between 2/60 and 6/60 visual acuity and a visual field between 5% and 20%. Athletes in the RP category can have neurological or physiological disorders that can be very different. Some athletes in RP classes need a wheelchair, while others are limited by other factors (flexibility, coordination, strength). Athletes in the AU category have hand amputation or partial amputation. Athletes in the AL category have a leg amputation.
This competition was an important step in promoting Paralympic sport and the spirit of fair play, and the results achieved by our athletes once again underline the importance of teamwork, determination and mutual support. The extraordinary results are the obvious proof that Romania can excel at the world level in Paraclimbing.
Climb Again developed the first climbing therapy center in Europe in Bucharest and founded and coordinates the National Paraclimbing Group of Romania. The extraordinary results achieved by the athletes so far have confirmed the value and rise of this sport in Romania.
