RomaniaActive has set Romania in motion on #BEACTIVEDAY!
During the European Week of Sport and the #BEACTIVEDAY event, RomaniaActive, the representative employers’ association for the fitness and physical activity industry in Romania, organized activities in over 150 fitness clubs across Romania, offering free access to the general public.
“RomaniaActive is committed to creating a culture of movement, making health and fitness accessible to all Romanians, and promoting the importance of classifying the health fitness industry as an essential one. Essential for the health of Romanians and for the health of the entire Romanian economy.
Supported by numerous medical studies, we firmly believe that physical activity is a fundamental aspect of life. It is a way to prevent illness and improve the quality of life for all citizens. It has the power to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases, increase productivity, and improve physical and mental health.
I strongly believe that the partnership between RomaniaActive and the National Sports Agency will be a success story in which the private and public sectors come together to collaborate and embark on a journey that will contribute to a healthier nation and a healthier future for all Romanians!
Together, we must convey this message as strongly as possible: physical exercise is not just a trend but a long-term investment in our health and the health of future generations! Together, step by step, exercise by exercise, person by person, we can make a difference for the future of a healthy Romania,” said Kent Orrgren, President of RomaniaActive, during the press conference held at the National Sports Agency.
The European Week of Sport and #BEACTIVEDAY take place annually across Europe with the aim of facilitating access to physical activity and raising awareness of the proven benefits that physical exercise brings to health.
RomaniaActive has taken a significant step towards its contribution to the European Week of Sport through its successful partnership with the National Sports Agency. The common goal is clear: promoting physical activity, sports, health, and fitness throughout the country.
Physical activity is essential in preventing and treating chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity. Unfortunately, in Romania, 58% of citizens are overweight, 63% do not engage in any sports, and 51% completely ignore any form of physical activity. These alarming figures demonstrate the urgent need to promote an active and healthy lifestyle among Romanians.
Another alarming aspect is that over 25% of children in Romania suffer from childhood obesity, which is a direct consequence of their parents’ habits and role models. Therefore, RomaniaActive is firmly committed to continuing its support for the importance of an active lifestyle for the health of Romanians of all ages.
A significant number of Romanians have participated in activities organized by RomaniaActive across the country, both in clubs and outdoors. It is a sign that the concern for health and combating sedentary behavior through regular physical exercise is becoming a norm for more and more Romanians.
RomaniaActive believes that its partnership with the National Sports Agency is a recognition of the importance of supporting and developing the physical activity and sports industry, and this collaboration will significantly contribute to building a healthier future for all Romanians. Physical exercise is not just a trend but a long-term investment in our health and the health of future generations.
