Romanian female handball player says she is lesbian
34-year-old Romanian female handball player has come up admitting she is gay in a social media post. Laura Vasilescu is less known to the Romanian sports stage, as she played only to Remin in the National League in Romania and in some second league handball teams before being transferred to Germany.
Playing for Bad Wildungen Vipers in Germany, Laura Vasilescu ended the 2014-2015 season as the best scorer in Bundesliga. She retired from professional handball last year following repeated injuries.
Vasilescu is the first female handball player in Romania who announces she is a lesbian. In a social media post, the Romanian wished Happy birthday to her lover, Steffi Sauer, next to a photo featuring the two kissing.
“Happy birthday, Steffi! Keep your smile forever, may you be healthy and may you laugh with your eyes every day! The future is ours. I love unconditionally!,” Laura posted.
