Irina Bulmaga became the European vice-champion in chess, after losing the final to Teodora Injac (Serbia).
The victory comes after the European Championship was hosted by Romania itself, in Eforie Nord, at the end of February this year. And the similar women’s competition took place this week in Greece, Rhodes.
Irina Bulmaga had 11 suspenseful rounds, ending with a remarkable performance: 6 wins, 4 draws and a single defeat. It is the greatest performance of the Romanian chess player’s career, but also the best place occupied by Romania in the 25-year history of the main European women’s individual competition.
The other members of the Romanian delegation were Mihaela Sandu, Miruna Lehaci and Alessia Ciolacu.
