Rowing: Madalina Beres and Laura Oprea, bronze medal at the European Championships

The double frames crew without coxswain made up by Madalina Beres and Laura Oprea won the bronze medals at the European Championships rowing in Brandenburg, Germany.

The Romanian women were timed 7: 47.18 at the end of the 2,000 meters, being defeated by British women Helen Glover and Heather Stanning 7: 35.93, and Germans Kathrin Marchand – Kerstin Hartmann 7: 43.81.

Four other Romanian crews competed in the competition held on Lake Beetzsee.

Regardless of results, the European Championship does not ensure the participation to Rio Olympics, the last places will be occupied according to the results at the regatta in Lucerne during May 22-24.

Currently, Romania is qualified to Rio Olympics in the female double frames without coxswain, double frames without coxswain male and in the male four frames without coxswain competitions.
