Sand Marathon 2025: Kites Ready, Over €15,000 in Prizes, and a Weekend Full of Challenges at Zoom Beach, Constanța

The Sand Marathon, now at its 10th edition, is set to welcome participants on the weekend of May 17–18 with a full schedule of sports competitions, recreational activities, and surprises. All participants are invited to pick up their official race kits from the VIVO! Constanța shopping center, Food Court Area, according to the following schedule:

• Friday, May 16, between 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Family Run, School Champions, 42k, 42k Relay, 21k, 10k, 5k races

• Saturday, May 17, between 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM: 42k, 42k Relay, 21k, 10k, 5k races

So far, over 2,500 participants have confirmed their attendance. Online registration remains open until May 16, 2025, at 11:59 PM, via the official event website: https://www.maratonulnisipului.ro/

This anniversary edition stands out with a generous prize fund of over €15,000, of which €5,000 will be awarded in cash, the rest in products and services. Prizes will be given for classic races — marathon, half-marathon, 10k, and 5k — as well as the marathon relay and special races.

Participants in the Family Run and School Champions races will also have the chance to win surprise prizes in a raffle held right after their awards ceremony.

To mark the anniversary spirit, Saturday, May 16, will premiere three fun & run moments:

• Kite Contest, a creative event encouraging families and children to fill the sky above Zoom Beach with kites, smiles, and joy;

• Beer Mile, an unconventional 1,600m race where each lap is followed by drinking a beer at the hydration point;

• Bikini Run, where 20 participants in swimsuits race among sunbeds on the sand, holding a tray with five shot glasses.

Also on Saturday, after the competitions, participants are invited to a guided tour of Constanța, a chance to discover the stories of the seaside city.
