Shenzhen Open: Halep/Begu defeat second Romanian pair Bara/Buzarnescu to reach doubles semi-finals
The pair made up by Romanian tennis players Irina Begu and Simona Halep defeqated on Tuesday the second Romanian pair made up by Irina Bara and Mihaela Buzarnescu 4-6, 6-4, 13-11 at the Shenzhen Open in China, a tournament with prizes amounting to USD 626,750.
Begu and Halep won in one hour and 49 minutes, after saving no less than five match points in the super-tiebreak.
Bara/Buzarnescu led 7-0 in the super-tiebreak, then by 9-6, 10-9 and 11-10, but Begu and Halep managed to turn the match around to win 13-11.
In the singles, Begu and Halep are qualified in the last sixteen round, Begu will face Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) and Halep will play against Ying-Ying Duan (China).
