Simona Halep, the first tour after Wimbledon: It will be tough, but I won’t panic
Romanian tennis champion Simona Halep is ready to kick off the Rogers Cup in Canada, the tour that she won in 2018. In an interview to Digi Sport, Halep says she had some rest before Rogers Cup and that she is ready to get back in the field.
“I got some rest, I recharged my batteries, there have been two weeks when I did not touch my tennis racket. I wanted to break free of what was in the past. Now, I’m starting over for it is an important period“.
“It will be a first tough week till I find my pace. The tournament will be difficult, but I am not get stressed or panic,” Simona said.
Halep will also play on the double, taking a surprising decision to team up with 16-year-old Canadian tennis player, Leylah Annie Fernandez, and they are expected to face Nicole Melichar – Kveta Peschke pair.
“We hope to play well. I a glad to play with her for she is still young and she needs experience”, Simona stated.
Halep might face Madison Keys or Donna Vekic in the eights, and Sloane Stephens, Caroline Garcia or Aryna Sabalenka in quarters.
The Romanian tennis champion might play against Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams or Caroline Wozniacki in the semi-finals.
