Simona Halep wins demonstrative World Tennis Thailand Championship

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, world number one, has won on Sunday the World Tennis Thailand Championship demonstrative tournament in Hua Hin after defeating Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) 6-2, 6 -3.

Halep confirmed the good match of the semi-finals and defeated the 4th WTA player in just 61 minutes.

Simona Halep has 5-1 in direct matches with Pliskova, the only victory of the Czech player being registered the Fed Cup, the victory of Hua Hin is not taken into account.

In the semi-finals, Halep defeated British Johanna Konta (9th WTA) 6-3, 6-3, whereas Pliskova defeated Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia, 7th WTA) 6-1, 6-4.

Halep will debut in the 2018 season at the Shenzhen (China) tournament, which will be start on December 31 and will award total prizes of USD 626,750.
