Tennis, Apia International Sydney: Mergea/Bopanna lose doubles final. Simona Halep defeated by Kuzentsova in the semi-finals

Florin Mergea (Romania) and Rohan Bopanna (India) have lost on Saturday the men’s doubles final of the Apia International Sydney tournament 6-3, 7-6 (6) to Jamie Murray (UK) and Bruno Soares (Brazil).
Romanian-Indian pair Florin Mergea – Rohan Bopanna had qualified on Friday to the doubles final of Apia International Syndey tournament, after defeating Thomaz Bellucci (Brazil)/Leonardo Mayer (Argentina) 7-6 (8), 6-4.
In the women’s singles event, Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, 2nd WTA, main favourite, was defeated Friday morning by Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3, in a match that started on Thursday and was interrupted due to rain.
Halep is to receive 185 WTA points and a cheque for USD 36,600.
In the final, Kuznetsova defeated Monica Puig (Puerto Rico) 6-0, 6-2.
