Romanian tennis legend Ilie Nastase has talked about the Fed Cup semi-final against France this weekend, in Rouen. He claims the Romanian team is favourite, but warns the atmosphere in the sports hall will most certainly be hostile.

“We have the first chance. We go there to win, especially that we play on clay, the surface preferred by Simona Halep. We also have a good doubles team,” Ilie Nastase said for ‘Libertatea’ newspaper.

“The sports hall will be full and hostile towards our team, within limits. There is a tennis referee, so things cannot get out of control,” he added.

“I am very excited and looking forward to the tie. I want to win, to win both my matches and help the team. The match will be tough, the opponents are tough and strong in the doubles. I will focus just on myself,” Simona Halep, 2nd WTA, said for fedcup.com on Tuesday.

The Fed Cup semi-finals take place this weekend: France vs. Romania and Australia vs. Belarus.
