Tennis: Mihaela Buzarnescu wins ITF tournament in Japan
Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzarnescu won the ITF tournament in Toyota (Japan), with total prizes of USD 60,000, after defeating in the final Slovenian player Tamara Zidansek (19, 149th WTA) 6-0, 6-1.
Buzarnescu (29, 68th WTA) defeated her opponent in 54 minutes
While having the best year of her career Buzarnescu lost a single match of the latest 15 played and also won the title in Poitiers (France, USD 100,000) and Toyota and played the final in Tokyo (USD 100,000).
She started the year as WTA’s 351st and also won the ITF tournaments in Hodmezovasarhely (Hungary, USD 60,000), Izmir (Turkey, USD 60,000), Getxo (Spain, USD 25,000), Versmold (Germany, USD 60,000), Biarritz (USD 80,000).
On Monday, Buzarnescu will rank 60th in the WTA rankings.
