Tennis: Simona Halep still on top of WTA rankings, Sorana Cirstea falls 19 positions
Romanian tennis player, Simona Halep, still tops the WTA rankings with 7,421 points and leads the road to Singapore standings with 6,921 points.
However, Halep’s lead has decreased to onlu 931 points ahead of Caroline Wozniacki, who won the Premier Mandatory Beijing tournament, by defeating Anastasija Sevastova 6-3, 6-3 in the final. It is the first time since June that Halep’s lead falls below the 1,000 points threshold.
But Wozniacki will not play next week in any of the three tournaments to be played.
Romanian tennis player, Sorana Cirstea, has fallen 19 positions, down to the 80th WTA. Mihaela Buzarnescu, injured again in China, has also lost points and has fallen to the 25th WTA position, whereas Monica Niculescu went down five positions to the 87th.
Irina Begu is up to 52nd and Ana Bogdan also jumped two positions to the 78th.
