Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has announced on Tuesday on the social networks that the MRI she underwent has highlighted that the 1st WTA player suffers from herniated disk.
She wrote: “Hi everyone, wanted to give you a quick update. I had an MRI on my back and found out I have a disk hernia. I will discuss with doctors in the next few days but hope to be back soon and will keep you updated. Thanks for all your support!”
Simona Halep had back problems in the matches played in Wuhan and Beijing, and was forced to abandon the last tournament.
By dropping out in Beijing, where she abandoned after a first set lost 6-1 to Ons Jabeur, the 27-year-old has registered four consecutive defeats in the women’s circuit.
According to specialists, herniated disk requires a long-term treatment or surgery, and the recovery period would be of 2 to 6 months.
For Simona, the following competitions she should have attended were the Moscow’s Kremlin Cup during October 15-20, and the WTA Finals 2018 in Singapore.
