Tennis: Simona Halep to face Johanna Konta at the Tie Break Tens charity tournament
Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, 4th WTA, will play against Johanna Konta (UK, 7th WTA) at the Tie Break Tens charity tournament, which will take place on May 4, ahead of the Madrid tournament at Caja Magica.
The format of the competition will be eliminatory – eight men players and eight women players. The matches are played in the format of a single tie-break up to 10 points. If Halep defeats Konta, she might play against Maria Sharapova, who plays the first match against Monica Puig (Puerto Rico, 42nd WTA).
The no-game and no-set competition will take place on Thursday at 20:30h.
The awards will be handed according to the ‘The Winner Takes All’ system, i.e. USD 200,000 for both men and women, and USD 100,000 will be donated to charity, to foundations or NGOs chosen by the tournament winners.
