Tennis: Simona Halep to open new season in Sydney

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, 1st WTA, will pay in the Sydney tournament during January 6-12, the organisers have announced on Monday.
Last year’s winner in Sydney, Angelique Kerber, 2nd WTA, will also play in the tournament, along with Naomi Osaka, 3rd WTA, Sloane Stevens, Petra Kvitova, Karolina Pliskova, Kiki Bertens and Daria Kasatkina.
Simona Halep started the 2018 season at Shenzhen (China), where she will not play this year.
