Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, 5th WTA, 1st seeded, has won on Sunday the BRD Bucharest open title featuring USD 226,750 in prize money by defeating Anastasija Sevastova (Latvia) 6-0, 6-0 in 47 minutes.
Before this match, Sevastova hadn’t lost a single set.
It is the second title won by Halep in Bucharest, after the one in 2014. The Romanian tennis player will cash in a cheque for USD 43,000 and 280 WTA points.
It is the 13th title won by Halep and the second this year.
In the semi-final Halep defeated WTA’s No. 144, American Vania King 6-7 (3) 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday.
On Friday Halep defeated Danka Kovinic (Montenegro, 54th WTA) 6-4, 6-2 and in the previous match she defeated 6-4, 6-3 Bulgarian Isabella Shinikova.
