Romanian tennis player Irina Begu has qualified on Saturday to the BRD Bucharest Open final, tournament with prizes amounting to USD 226,750, after she defeated Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro (2nd seeded) 7-5, 7-5. Begu will play on Sunday against Julia Goerges (Germany, 3rd seeded), who has defeated Ana Bogdan (108th WTA) 6-3, 2-6, 4-6.

This is Begu’s first final after Florianopolis last year, which she won 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 against Hungary’s Timea Babos.

Irina Begu will collect USD 21,400 and 180 WTA points.

If she wins on Sunday, Irina Begu will be the second Romanian to win the BRD Bucharest Open after Simona Halep had claimed the title in 2014 and 2016.

In the quarter-finals Irina Begu defeated Pauline Parmentier (France, 107th WTA) 7-5, 6-0. The match lasted one hour and 23 minutes.
