Romanian tennis player Florin Mergea (16th ATP in doubles) will pair for the doubles with Dominic Inglot (UK – 30, 34th ATP) with whom he also played last year.

“I’ve chosen to play together with my best friend. I believe we left things unfinished. He is the one with whom I won the most important victory, my first win against the Bryan brothers. Given the excellent relations we have outside the court, there are enough elements to form a solid base for the partnership as of 2017. Welcome to #teaMMergea, Mr. Inglot!” Mergea wrote on his Facebook page.

Inglot won six titles and played six other finals. Paired with Mergea, the British tennis player fought in two finals in 2015, in Auckland and Montpellier.

Florin Mergea announced on Wednesday on his Facebook account that he will not pair with Rohan Bopanna, ending the collaboration between the two as of this year.

“I want to announce officially that my partnership with Rohan Bopanna has come to an end, including for this season. I will not forget the good results registered since my comeback to the ATP circuit with Rohan. I thank him for his involvement and I wish him many accomplishments in his career and in personal life. Success further on, Rohan!” Mergea wrote on his Facebook account.

Margea and Bopanna paired since April 2015. The two won the Madrid Masters and the tournament in Stuttgart (in 2015). They played together five finals, among them the one at the Champions Tournament (lost against Horia Tecau/Jean Julien Rojer).

Rohan Bopanna (36, India) is 18th in the doubles ATP rankings.

Florin Mergea (31, 16th ATP in the doubles rankings) is going through a recovery period after being diagnosed with a condition of the bones on one leg. Mergea won the silver medal in the doubles event at Rio Olympics pairing with Horia Tecau, failed to compete at the US Open due to injury, hotnews.ro informs.
