Volleyball, Challenge Cup: CSM Bucharest vs. Trabzon Idman Ocagi in the final
CSM Bucharest will play the first European final in the history of Romanian volleyball. The team will meet on Wednesday the Turkish team Idman Ocagi Trabzon in the match for the Challenge Cup trophy, the second European competition in women’s volleyball.
CSM Bucharest has eliminated in the semi-finals another Turkish team, Bursa. After the victory 3-1 in the first leg in Turkey, the Romanian team coached by Italian Francois Salvagni won 3-0 the return match played in Bucharest and obtained the qualification in the final.
“For us it is a great honour to be in the final, but it’s not enough, our goal is to win the trophy. We worked all season to reach the final. It is a great opportunity for us all, so we must do everything to win the trophy,” Coach Francois Salvagn said.
Although Trabzon is on the 10th place in Turkey’s championship, the Turkish team gives cause for concern for the CSM Bucharest coach.
The first leg of the final between CSM Bucharest and Trabzon will be played on Wednesday at 18:00h in Elite Hall, located inside the Sun Plaza shopping centre. The return match will take place on April 3. Bucharest team officials have not found another sports hall available for organising the match. The Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest will host on Thursday the Champions League women’s handball quarterfinal match between CSM Bucharest and Rostov-on-Don (Russia).
