CSM Bucharest has won the volleyball Challenge Cup on Sunday, after defeating away the Turkish team Trabzon Idman Ocagi 3-1 (25-23, 25-13, 20-25, 25-20) in the second leg of the final. In the first leg on Wednesday, in Bucharest, CSM had won 3-1.
It is the first trophy won by a Romanian volleyball women’s team.
The Romanian team has returned to Bucharest Monday morning.
The Romanian MVP was Jasna Majstorovic with 19 points, followed by Roxana Bacsis – 14 points and Laura Pihlajamaki – 13 points.
CSM Bucharest eliminated in the semi-finals another Turkish team, Bursa. After the victory 3-1 in the first leg in Turkey, the Romanian team coached by Italian Francois Salvagni won 3-0 the return match played in Bucharest and obtained the qualification in the final.
