Volleyball: Romania men’s team defeats Denmark in first match of European Championship qualifiers

The national volleyball men’s team of Romania defeated Denmark 3-2 (21-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-22, 15-11) on Wednesday in the Oltenia Polyvalent Hall of Craiova, in Group A of the European Championship 2019 qualifiers.

Romania won in two hours and three minutes.

Laurenţiu Lică was the best player of our team, with 19 points, while Robert Aciobăniţei managed 16 points.

Denmark’s best players were Rasmus Breuning Nielsen, 23 points, Peter Trolle Bonnesen, 18 points, Philip Metin Oezari, 14 points.

Romania will play the next match away against Finland on August 22.

The group winners and the top five teams in the second place will qualify for the final tournament.

On the other hand, the women’s team of Romania was defeated by Bosnia-Herzegovina 3-2(21-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-19, 15-11) on Wednesday, also in Craiova, in Group F of the European Championship 2019 qualifiers. In the other match of the group, Spain defeated Latvia away 3-0.
