The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has announced on Thursday that four weightlifters, among them Gabriel Sincraian, broke the anti-doping regulations at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and were thus disqualified.

The four athletes are: Tomasz Zielinski (Poland, positive for norandrosterone), Izzat Artykov (Kirgizstan, positive to a stimulant based on strychnine), Chagnaadorj Usukhbayar (Mongolia) and Gabriel Sincraian, both positive for testosterone.

IWF claims the athletes have broken the anti-doping regulations at the Olympic Games and were thus disqualified, their results cancelled, adding that no other comments will be released until the official concluding of the cases.

Romanian weightlifter Gabriel Sîncrăian has been provisionally suspended since September 30 by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) for a positive doping test at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where he won the bronze medal in the 85 kg category, the President of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation Nicu Vlad said on Tuesday.

Weightlifter Gabriel Sîncrăian, who won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio, failed the doping test of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on August 29.

Gabriel Sincraian won the bronze medal at the 85 kg category with a total of 390 kg (172 kg in the snatch event, 217 in the jerk event). Same weight also managed to raise Kazakh Denis Ulanov, but the Romanian athlete, being lighter, was ranked third. Sîncrăian weighed 84.33 kg, while Ulanov was 84.95 kg. The gold medal was won by Kianoush Rostami (Iran) with 396 kg.

Sîncrăian was suspended because of doping during 2013-2015.
