Weightlifting, European Championships: Dumitru Captari wins three bronze medals
Romanian athlete Dumitru Captari won three medals on Wednesday in the men’s 77-kg category of the European Weightlifting Championships in Forde, Norway.
Captari won the bronze medal for an 156-kg snatch event. The gold and silver medals were won by Armenians Andranik Karapetian (170 kg) and Tigran Martirosian (160 kg).
In the clean/jerk style, Moldova-born Captari, finished third, with cu 192 kg.
In the total rankings, Karapetian was first, with 367 kg, followed by Martirosian, 352 kg, and Captari, 348 kg.
The Romanian weightlifting athletes have so far won 11 medals — three gold, two silver and six bronze medals — at the European Weightlifting Championships in Forde, Norway. Cristina Iovu (53 kg) won gold for total and clean/jerk and bronze for snatch in the women’s competition; Monica Suneta Csengeri (48 kg) won the gold for snatch and bronze for total; Irina Lepsa (58 kg) won silver for clean/jerk and total; Ilie Constantin Ciotoiu (56 kg) won the bronze for total, while Dumitru Captari (77 kg) won the bronze for snatch, clean/jerk and total.
