Wimbledon: Simona Halep through to second round. Niculescu, Ana Bogdan defeated

Romanian tennis player, Simona Halep, 1st WTA, qualified on Tuesday in the second round at Wimbledon after defeating the Kurumi Nara (Japan) 6- 2, 6-4 in one hour and 17 minutes.

In another match, Monica Niculescu (30, 61st WTA) was defeated by Naomi Osaka (20, 18th WTA), 18th seeded, 6-4, 6-1, in 66 minutes.

Niculescu will be awarded GBP 39,000 and 10 WTA points.

Four of the eight Romanian women tennis players were victorious in the first round: Simona Halep, Mihaela Buzarnescu, Sorana Cîrstea and Alexandra Dulgheru.

Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan was defeated by Spanish Lara Arruabarrena 6-1, 3-6, 8-6 on Tuesday.
