Wimbledon: Tecau/Rojer qualify to third round
The pair made up of Horia Tecau and Jean-Julien Rojer (Romania/Netherlands, 5th seeded) has qualified to the third round of the Wimbledon men’s doubles tournament.
Horia and Jean-Julien dominated the match against Fabrice Martin/Hugo Nys (France/Monaco) and won 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 after one hour and 38 minutes.
In the next round, the two will face the winners of the match between Pablo Carreno-Busta/Feliciano Lopez (Spain) and Maximo Gonzalez/Horacio Zeballos (Argentina).
On Thursday, Tecau/Rojer defeated Italians Marco Cecchinato and Andreas Seppi 6-4, 6-3, 6-1.
Also on Thursday, Romanian tennis players Monica Niculescu and Irina Begu qualified to the second round of the women’s doubles event after defeating in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6 -2, the pair Daria Kasatkina (Russia)/Anett Kontaveit (Estonia).
In the next round, the Romanians will face Xinyun Han (China)/Oksana Kalashnikova (Georgia).
