The women’s national handball team has qualified to the quaterfinals at the World Championship in Denmark, after surprisingly defeating champion Brazil by 25-22 (13-8), on Sunday night.
Romania’s national, that was coming after three subsequent failures, 18-26 with Spain, 22-26 with Norway and 27-30 with Russia has made its best match so far and eliminated the world champion, the winner of Group C. At the same time, the tricolours have ensured qualification to one of the pre-Olympic tournaments counting for the next year’s Olympic Games in Rio.
Aurelia Bradeanu, with 7 goals, was the best player of our team, alongside Paula Ungureanu (who defended three 7-metre shots).
In the quarterfinals, Romania will meet Denmark, the host-team, which has overlapped Sweden 26-19. The match is scheduled on December 16.
