Women’s handball: CSM Bucharest defeats Gdynia 34-23 away in Champions League


CSM Bucharest defeated the Polish handball team Vistal Gdynia 34-23 (18-9) on Wednesday night in a match in Group A of the women’s handball Champions League.

The Romanian champions won the match in Poland, after being led by 3-1 in the 5th min. CSMB had a nine-goal lead at the break, 18-9, and in the second half the maximum goal difference was of 11 goals. The hosts came close to 7 goals (20-27 in the 52nd min.), but CSM Bucharest eventually won 34-23.

Cristina Neagu was the best goal scorer for CSM, with 12 goals. Nathalie Hagman scored 3 goals, Aneta Udriştioiu 2, Marit Frafjord 2, Isabelle Gullden 2, Iulia Curea 2, Bianca Bazaliu 2, Oana Manea 2, Amanda Kurtovic 2, Gnonsiane Niombla 2, Majda Mehemedovic 2, Line Jorgensen 1.

The Poles missed three 7 meters throws and CSM Bucharest one (Gullden).

CSMB defeated in Group A RK Krim Mercator Ljubljana 30-18 and Vistal Gdynia34-23, will play the next match away against NFH – Nykoebing Falster Handboldklub (Denmark) on October 22.
