CSM Bucharest, women’s handball Romanian champions, played one of its best matches this season Friday evening, to defeat French team Metz 34-21, in the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest.
Following the thirteen goal difference, CSM is very close to qualify to the Final Four tournament, after the return match.
In the 9th minute CSM led 6-2, showing inspired attacks and solid defence.
After 7-3, the Romanian champions’ combinations began to fail so the score advanced up to 11-10 for CSM. Coach Per Johansson called for a time-out and then the team seems to mentally recover to lead 19-13 at half time.
The second half began with two goals scored by Cristina Neagu (photo) and then the French team’s defence started to show failures, whereas the attack failed to score for almost fifteen minutes. Final score 34-21.

The return match will take place in Metz on April 15. The winner qualifies to the Final Four tournament in Budapest, May 12-13.
