Women’s handball: Romania loses Carpathians Trophy to Hungary

Romania A women’s handball team was defeated by Hungary 29-24 (14-12) Sunday evening in Cluj Napoca, in the final of Carpathians Trophy.

On this occasion well-known handball player Aurelia Bradeanu, 37, has withdrawn from national team and received a trophy for her entire activity.

Important Romanian players were missing – Cristina Neagu, Gabriela Perianu, Paula Ungureanu.

Best goalkeeper – Denisa Dedu, best player – Kinga Klivinyi.

In the final standing, Hungary ranks first, followed by Romania A, the Netherlands – third and Romania B fourth.

Also on Sunday, Romania B was defeated by the Netherlands 31-29 (12-14, 26-26, 5-3) after the 7 metres kicks.

Coach Martin Ambros will soon decide on the lot of handball players for the European Championship due in Sweden December 4-18. Romania is included in Group D along with Norway (December 5), Russia (December 7) and Croatia (December 9).
