Women’s handball: Romania to play in Group D of the European Championship

The national women’s handball team of Romania will play in Group D of the European Championship this year in Sweden, according to the draw on Friday.

In Group D Romania will face Norway (world champions, Olympic champions, European champions), Russia and Croatia.

The matches will take place in Kristianstad, during December 4-8.

The first three teams ranked in the group qualify in the groups’ second stage, to form two series of six teams each. First and second places qualify for the semi-finals.

Romania won the bronze medals in 2010 and ranked fourth in 2000 at the European Championships.

Group A: Sweden, Serbia, Spain, Slovenia;

Group B: Netherlands, France, Germany, Poland;

Group C: Montenegro, Hungary, Denmark, Czech Republic

Group D: Norway, Russia, Romania, Croatia

The European Championship this year is to take place during December 4-18 in Sweden.
