Women’s handball: Romania wins the 50th edition of Carpathians Trophy

The women’s handball national team of Romania has won the 50th edition of the Carpathians Trophy on Saturday, in the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest, after defeating Romania B 33-24 (21-12).

In the first match on Friday, Romania defeated Serbia 29-26 (13-15), whereas Romania B surprisingly defeated Russia, Olympic champions, 25-24 (11-12).

Russia came third, after defeating Serbia 33-22 (14-17) in the match for positions 3 and 4.

It was the last test before the European Championship in France to be played during November 29-December 16. Romania is in Group D and will face Norway, Germany and the Czech Republic.
