The national football teams of Romania and Denmark ended in a draw, 0-0, Sunday night, at Cluj Arena in Cluj-Napoca, in a match of Group E of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Romania made a modest game and the chances of qualifying to the tournament in Russia are quite slim, Romania did not score in its last four games (three official matches, one friendly).

Romania remains on 4th place in Group E, with the same number of points as Armenia and Montenegro and one point behind the Danes. We will play away in all disputes with the best placed teams (Poland, Montenegro and Denmark).

Coach Christoph Daum: We are disappointed

“We are disappointed. We invested a lot, especially in the first half, when we had a few chances and the system worked. The tempo was very high and in the second half we did not cope with it. The players were very motivated to win. I think many players have been at the highest level. We have to make them better, but on the other hand, we see that the chances to score do not necessarily translate into goals. We expected more, a victory, especially because we played at home, where you always expect to take three points. Much of the time we had a good game, but a perfect game would mean to score and win,” Daum said.

He added that the Romanian team has 50% chance to occupy the second place in the group and he is determined to fight to the very end and try to capitalize on every chance. “As long as we have opportunity, I will not give them up,” Christoph Daum said.
