Wuhan Open: Simona Halep defeated by Petra Kvitova in semi-finals

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep was defeated on Friday by Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic, 16th WTA) 6-1, 6-2 in the semi-finals of Wuhan Open in China. The match lasted one hour and eight minutes.

Halep had won all previous confrontations against Kvitova in New Haven (2013, on hard), in Madrid semi-finals (2014, on clay) and in Fed Cup (2016, hard) in Cluj Napoca.

On Thursday Simona Halep, 4th WTA, defeated Madison Keys (US, 9thWTA) 6-4, 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

In the last sixteen round she won against Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3, 6-3, a victory in an hour and 15 minutes.

By qualifying to the Wuhan semi-finals, Halep is certain of her participation to the Champions Tournament in Singapore, October 23-30.
