The first school campus in the Romanian rural area is commissioned on Thursday in a village in Alba county. The campus, located in Strungari village is to shelter children living in disadvantaged mountain areas of the county, where the dropout risk is high.
The campus comprises a freshly revamped boarding school, a day centre, a playground, an educational centre “The House in the mountain”. The campus will shelter the children from the neighboring communes where there are no schools.
The project was made in partnership with “Support the children” Association, with the total value of RON 1.95 million.
“A strange mix of modern and old, Strungari village is atypical for our country and we say this considering the strategic, integrated action carried out here to educate children from the mountain disadvantage area. Until no long ago, the children living in the village went to school in the city. Now, due to this project, children living in the hamlets near Cugir or the neighbouring villages Saliste or Sasciori will be able to learn at the school in Strungari. They would have had to walk tens of kilometers or to drop school,” the association points out.
