EU Funds Minister Cristian Ghinea announced Sunday on Facebook, marking 100 days of his mandate  that, in 2016, EUR 2.9 billion of the 2007 – 2013 funds entered Romania, representing a leap of 20 percent. Also, guides worth EUR 13.3 billion were released.

Furthermore, a balance sheet report will be released on Monday in this regard.

“After I will complete my mandate, I’ll sleep very peaceful because I managed to start some things: a major program to reduce school drop where tens of thousands of children will receive hot meals, clothing, school supplies, to continue to go to school. I managed to set a project on its feet to bring solar panels and micro power plants in villages that can not connect to the electricity network,” Ghinea noted.

Romanian authorities also intend to close 2007 – 2013 financial framework with an absorption rate of European funds by 80 percent.

On the other hand, Ghinea added on digi24.ro that the Government is considering to introduce a “blacklist” of the companies that have defrauded the state to ban the participation in public tenders.

However, even if the law allows sanctioning these companies in this way, the measure could be challenged.

Recently, the Minister of European Funds and PSD MP Ana Birchall, President of the European Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, had a long exchange of words on the European funds for young people.

Cristian Ghinea accused the former Government of mismanagement of European funds for youth and in turn, Ana Birchall accused him of losing European funding, which will be subsequently borne by the state budget.
