The National Bank of Romania (BNR) sanctioned two banks in the first eight months: Patria Bank (by written warning) and Bancpost (fined RON 25,000), after having applied 55 sanctions last year and 14 other sanctions in 2015. Patria Bank is the bank resulting from the merger of the former Carpatica Bank with Patria Bank, and Bancpost is ongoing the process of selling as a result of Eurobank’s decision – the mother bank of Bancpost – to restructure its activities outside Greece, hotnews.ro informs.
