Court of Auditors reports RON 1.8bn damages in 2014

In its report on 2014 the Court of Auditors points to damaging contracts, waste of public money for investments and unjustified expenditures. Part of the irregularities could be straightened up and could bring some RON 5.4 billion to the state budget, digi24.ro informs.
However, the court points to some RON 1.8bn damages that could hardly be seen as recoverable.
Government reserve fund: Initial amount of RON 161.29 million, supplemented up to RON 2.34 billion.
Higher expenditures registered at the Agency for Property Restitution (ARP). Initial budget of RON 263.4 million, payments of RON 625.8 million, irregularities found.
Anti-Fraud Directorate (DLAF) – some 63% of expenditures were transport expenses.
The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) – during May 2012 to May 2015, expense increases of RON 447,000.
Ombudsman: hiring retired people who cumulate pension and salary. Incorrect travel expenses of RON 40,000.
The Hospital Accreditation Commission – RON 13.7 million for consultancy and training.
Interior Ministry – Improper conduct of the contract with 2K Telecom.
Labour Inspectorate – illegal payment of RON 5.79 million to the supplier of Revisal system.
Health Ministry has approved too high prices for drugs. It did not use 5,591 ‘perpetual licenses for software packages’ estimated at USD 5.4 million.
