The Swedish telecom company Ericsson is to take over the antenna and filter business in Timisoara from Kathrein company, two plants in Timisoara, with over 2,000 employees.
The announcement was made public in Barcelona, where the MWC fair is taking place. The takeover includes over 4,000 employees in 20 locations in Germany, Romania, the United States, Mexico and China, capital.ro reports.
Timisoara Mayor Nicolae Robu has sent a message on Facebook announcing to the city’s residents about the transaction.
“A new big global name is coming to Timisoara: Ericsson! I can only be glad, wish it great success and assure it of all the openness of the local public administration and mine, direct access to me and to the the City Hall of Timisoara, in the same way I grant access to all those which give force to our city, to our powerful economic agents!” Robu wrote.
“2,000 employees will work under the Ericsson logo in the two factories taken over from Kathrein, in the high-end field of communications, in the production of antennas and filters. This is Timisoara, the most attractive place for business in Romania, the pole of strength of the IT&C industries and the automotive industry!” Robu added.
