Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici has forwarded the proposal to PM Dancila that his predecessor, Ionut Misa, to be appointed at the helm of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF).

However, Teodorovici refused to explain in Parliament on Wednesday the reasons for proposing Ionut Misa as the new ANAF head.

We’ll discuss all these elements, including the reasons of this decision, when it is published in the Official Gazette,” the FinMin said.

Teodorovici also added that after taking office, the new leadership of the tax revenue body will have a very short time “a week at the most” to present “a very clear and assumed action plan”, which should cover all areas under ANAF’s authority, from the customs to the control of large wealth.

The information about Ionut Misa’s being named at ANAF helm came after sources in the mass media reported earlier in the day that over 20 ANAF directors, including the agency’s president, Mirela Calugareanu, will be sacked.

Asked if he dismissed ANAF heads, the Finance minister said: “No, no”.

Evaluations should also exist for we talk about an extremely important state structure, the entire economy in the country depends on it. The evaluation to be made by the new leadership will aim to solutions that should lead to a more efficient approach”, Teodorovici explained.
