GDP up by 1.4 pc in Q3, up by 3.7 pc in nine months

Romania’s gross domestic product grew in real terms by 1.4% in the third quarter against the previous quarter, while against the same period last year the growth was of 3.6%, both as gross series and as seasonally adjusted series, data released on Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INS) inform.
In the second quarter, the GDP stagnated after a rise of 1.4% against Q1.
The National Statistics Institute revised downwards to 0.0% from 0.1% the data regarding the GDP growth in Q2 against Q1.
In the first nine months of the Romanian economy grew by 3.7% as compared to the same period last year, both as unadjusted series and as seasonally adjusted series.
Earlier this month, the European Commission has improved Romania’s economic growth estimates for 2015 to 3.5% from 2.8% envisaged in May.
The GDP is expected to record an advance of 4.1% in 2016 and 3.6% in 2017 due to the consolidation of consumption on the background of fiscal easing.
