OMV Petrom’s Supervisory Board has replaced Mariana Gheorghe (photo 1) as CEO of the company on Tuesday, who “has given up her mandate,” the company’s management is to be taken over by Christina Verchere (photo 2), hotnews.ro informs.
“At today’s meeting, the OMV Petrom SA’s Supervisory Board has appointed Christina Verchere as OMV Petrom SA’s Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Before today’s Supervisory Board meeting, Mariana Gheorghe has given up the position of Chairman of the Board and CEO of OMV Petrom SA. The decision will become effective at the moment the successor takes over, at the latest on May 20, 2018,” the release sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) by OMV Petrom reads.
“In accordance with the OMV Petrom SA’s constitutive act, the appointment was made for the remaining period of Mariana Gheorghe’s term in office until April 16, 2019. Christina Verchere has accepted the appointment and will take over the position, subject to availability, on May 21, 2018 at the latest,” the press release reads.
After leading the company for 12 years, Mariana Gheorghe’s term was due to expire on April 17, 2019.
Christina Verchere is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen and has worked for the past four years as regional president of British Petroleum. Previously, she was Chairman and CEO at BP Canada Energy Group.
According to a press release from OMV Petrom, in the following months, Christina Verchere and Mariana Gheorghe will work closely for a smooth transition and for achieving the ambitious goals and growth potential of the company.
